Welcome to the Rhonda Pritchard Website
A Short History  
  • Rhonda Pritchard has been in private practice in Wellington as a counsellor, supervisor, mentor and trainer for twenty five years. She is now retired.  
  • In 1995 she began writing books on family relationships:
    Love in the Real World: (Starting and keeping close relationships)
    When Parents Part: How Kids Adapt: (What hurts and what heals)
    How Money Comes Between Us: (Common family problems, creative solutions)
  • In 2006 she wrote a booklet - 'Children are Unbeatable: 7 very good reasons not to hit children' sponsored by the Office of the Children's Commissioner, UNICEF and the Families Commission. Available free of charge from r.blaikie@occ.org.nz.

  • After her early career in teaching English, History and Music, Rhonda began counselling training and was employed as a director in Marriage Guidance (now Relationship Services) in 1979, and later became a psychotherapist and certified Transactional Analyst.

  • In 2001, she completed her honours degree in Psychology. her research topic was an investigation into prediction and prevention of filicide (the killing of children by a parent) in the context of separation and custody disputes. She also investigated recent research on sustaining relationships and on the effectiveness of couple therapy.

  • Rhonda is a member of the New Zealand Psychological Society and of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors. 
  • She provides training courses for counsellors, and teaches communication skills and conflict resolution to managers and staff in organisations.

  • Rhonda has been married for 20 years and has a daughter and step son, now both adults.
